What are Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
An intellectual disability is a term used when there are limits to a person’s ability to learn at an expected level and function in daily life. Learn more about IDD at National Institutes of Health.
Some examples of intellectual and developmental disabilities may be, but not limited to, autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), Cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS).
NC Innovations Waiver
The NC Innovations Waiver is a Federally approved 1915 C Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services Waiver (HCBS Waiver) designed to meet the needs of Individuals with Intellectual or Development Disabilities (I/DD) who prefer to get long-term care services and supports in their home or community, rather than in an institutional setting.
